Projects

 

Current and upcoming projects include: the Public Theater’s world premiere audio production of LET’S KEEP DANCING by John Purugganan, directed by Oskar Eustis; the world premiere of MINOR.ITY by Francisca Da Silveira, directed by Shariffa Ali (Colt Coeur/WP Theater); and the 2025 Emerging Writers Group Spotlight Series. Other current projects include new works by Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen, Lisa Sanaye Dring, Larissa FastHorse, and Mona Mansour.

In 2024, Jack dramaturged the New York premiere of GOOD BONES by James Ijames, directed by Saheem Ali at The Public Theater, the world premiere of Jordan E. Cooper’s OH HAPPY DAY! at Baltimore Center Stage, directed by Stevie Walker-Webb, the world premiere of of THE OTHER AMERICANS by John Leguizamo directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson at Arena Stage, and staged readings of THE LODGE by Mary Elizabeth Hamilton (New Dramatists) PROXY by James Ijames in The Public’s inaugural Judith Champion New Work Series. In 2024, Jack also served as a Guest Lecturer at the annual Sewanee Writers Conference.

In 2023, Jack led the launch of Microcosms, a new program created in partnership with the American Museum of Natural History, which brought together theater artists and astrophysicists to collaborate on groundbreaking new work, culminating in a performance at the world-famous Hayden Planetarium. He was a Production Dramaturg on both the world premiere of SHADOW/LAND by Erika Dickerson-Despenza at The Public and Ryan J. Haddad’s Obie Award-winning DARK DISABLED STORIES, co-produced by the Bushwick Starr and The Public. Jack was the artistic leader on the EWG Spotlight Series, a festival featuring readings of nine new plays and musicals by The Public Theater’s 2023 Emerging Writers Group. In the Spotlight Series, Jack also served as dramaturg for new plays by Nissy Aya, Francisca Da Silveira, and AriDy Nox. In 2023, Jack also launched an inaugural Dramaturgy class at Syracuse University’s Tepper Semester, where he has taught since 2018, consulted on new programs at SPACE on Ryder Farm, and served as the dramaturg on a reading of Jake Brasch’s THE RESERVOIR at the Denver Center New Play Summit and as dramaturg on a workshop of MINOR.ITY by Francisca Da Silveira, produced by Colt Couer and WP Theater.

In 2022, Jack served as a dramaturg on the New York premiere of THE VAGRANT TRILOGY by Mona Mansour, Ma-Yi Theater’s remount of THE CHINESE LADY by Lloyd Suh, and the Off-Broadway premiere of FAT HAM by James Ijames (which won the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, transferred to Broadway, and received multiple 2023 Tony Award Nominations, including Best Play). He taught a course on New York City Theater History at the Atlantic Theater Company Conservatory and was a Juror for the prestigious Windham-Campbell Prize.

In 2021, Jack was the dramaturg on The Public Theater’s world-premiere production of CULLUD WATTAH by frequent collaborator Erika Dickerson-Despenza, directed by Candis C. Jones. He also taught an undergraduate course in Dramaturgy at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. He was a Facilitator for The Orchard Project’s Performance Lab, providing dramaturgical support for artists creating new work. Jack also worked as the Dramaturgical Consultant on THE GLORIOUS WORLD OF CROWNS, KINKS AND CURLS by Keli Goff, a world premiere play at Baltimore Center Stage in 2021.
